This month’s AIGA Maine Member Spotlight features Communications Board Member, Sabrina Volante. We talked to her about work, her life in Maine, and her experience with AIGA.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m Sabrina Volante, a graphic designer, illustrator, and artist with an affinity for gardening, wandering, and good food. In 2014, I graduated from Maine College of Art & Design with a BFA in Graphic Design and a minor focus in video/film. My designs reflect a passion and reverence for typography and color, which can be seen across a variety of mediums. My agency and in-house experience have given me the tools to work on a wide range of projects such as web, packaging, print, and branding design.
Why do you choose to live in Maine?
My grandmother always spoke about how much she loved Maine (her parents grew up in Boothbay) and we frequented York beach in the summers. In 2010 I attended college at MECA&D and fell in love with living here, so I never left!
Why did you join AIGA Maine?
I recently started freelancing full-time and wanted to feel more immersed in our creative community. I love surrounding myself with talented people and helping facilitate connections between creatives!
What are a few of your favorite spots in Maine?
I love the food scene here and feel so spoiled by all the options! Some favorite places to grab a bite are Cong Tu Bot, Crown Jewel, Rose Foods, and Scratch Baking Co. I could name like 100 more but I’d run out of room!
