The Future is Freelance: A Roundtable Discussion
Presented by AIGA Maine as part of Design Fest 2024: The Future of Design
Local freelancers (and the freelance-curious) are invited to join an informal roundtable talk led by a panel of local professionals and AIGA Maine. We'll delve into the realities of self-employment in the creative industry, covering topics such as:
- Transitioning from full-time employment to full-time freelancing
- Direct client work vs. agency collaboration
- Boundaries: establishing good W/L balance and avoiding bad actors
- Pitching, pricing, and getting paid
- Portfolios and marketing
- Legal aspects: contracts, incorporating, and client disputes
- Financial Considerations: navigating fluctuating income
