918 Letterpress Ephemera Show

The opening reception will take place Fri Oct 18 from 6-8PM at Samford University, 800 Lakshore Dr. Birmingham AL. View a printable campus map to see directions on how to get to the Samford University Art Gallery.

The show will be open from Oct. 18th through Nov. 29th. This is an open event and the public is welcome to attend. The work in this international juried art show represents some of the most talented letterpress artists from around the world. Ephemera is defined as any transitory written or printed matter not meant to be retained or preserved. Examples of letterpress printed ephemera include: posters, greeting cards, pamphlets, postcards, tickets and zines.

Show Jurors include: internationally known consultant, instructor, and author Paul Moxon; letterpress printer and bookbinder Sarah Bryant from Brighton UK; and American graphic designer and educator Scott Fisk.

Reasons to attend the opening reception.

A free hand printed letterpress card will be given to the first 100 attendees. (value $5)

Letterpress demonstrations with the opportunity for attendees to print their own poster.

The opportunity to see outstanding letterpress work.

A chance to talk with others who love and appreciate things that are made by hand.

Free snacks and refreshments.
