Knowledge,

Artist Statement

Knowledge is the cornerstone for many things in today’s world, ranging from technological advancement and artistic expression to language. As new ideas and perspectives are brought into the world, that information then gets absorbed and then spreads, adding to the world’s information index we call knowledge. What’s considered common or out of the ordinary varies from person to person and even from culture to culture. Everyone has their own outlook on how they perceive that information, which leads to what’s considered as “common knowledge.” This piece is meant to encapsulate my own point of view of the word “knowledge” and showcase it from a unique design perspective. I included the overall definition of the word to represent what’s considered commonly known of the word, classification, meaning, etc. Large three-dimensional letters fill the space in a very abstract way; the bright red hue of the letters contrasts with the dark blue background, calling attention to all the characters that make up the word.
