Member Spotlight: Nicole Holmes, AIGA Maine Communications Board Member

This month’s AIGA Maine Member Spotlight features Communications Board Member, Nicole Holmes. We talked to her about work, her life in Maine, and her experience with AIGA.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your work.
I am a multi-disciplinary graphic designer based in Portland, Maine. I graduated with a BFA degree in Graphic Design from Maine College of Art in 2014. A combination of dynamic color and a playful spirit, my impactful, vibrant design style is seen across a diverse range of skill-sets, including branding, graphic design, website design, and content marketing. I am an avid learner with a love of experimentation, collecting design magazines, and hanging out with my adventurous sidekick, Finn, the pug.

What brought you to Maine and how long have you lived here?
When I visited Portland for the first time as a prospective college student, I immediately fell in love with the city and the state. The local arts community is wonderful and expansive. It continuously keeps me inspired, allows me to grow my skills, and best of all, meet and connect with other makers.

Why did you join AIGA Maine?
I’ve been appreciative of AIGA Maine’s offerings to the creative community when I was a student and now, as a creative professional. Artist lectures, portfolio reviews, mentorships, and monthly critique groups have been incredibly valuable to me. I’m excited to now give back.

What is one of your favorite spots in Maine?
