Nikki Villagomez: How Culture Affects Typography

Culture affects the decision process every day. For those of us who mix words with images, this is as crucial to the message we convey as it is fascinating to an observer of those processes. In my presentation, I will use pictures* I have taken throughout my travels and talk about the comparisons (and contrasts) in type choices based on location**. I encourage local designers in the Atlanta community to really look at the typography*** throughout your city and take pictures that you feel represents the city of Atlanta. Submit your pictures to Philip Berwick at philip@aiga-atl.org by August 24. These pictures will be sent to me prior to my speaking engagement and will be used as a crucial part of the presentation.
