Nikki Villagomez: How Culture Affects Typography

Join AIGA Cleveland and local designer, blogger, and typofile, Nikki Villagomez, for a look into how culture affects the decision processes of every day life. For those who mix words with images, this is as crucial to the message we convey as it is fascinating to an observer of those processes. In her presentation, Villagomez will use pictures she has taken throughout her travels and talk about the comparisons (and contrasts) in type choices based on location.

We encourage local designers in the Cleveland community to really look at the typography throughout your city and take pictures that you feel represents the city of Cleveland. Pictures need to be submitted by Friday, August 17. You can submit your pictures 2 ways:

Email them to:events@cleveland.aiga.org

Tweet them to: @nikki_vz with the hashtag #ClevelandType
Picture Submission: resolution: 300 dpi, format: jpeg, size: 5 x 7 inches
File naming: Last name_First Name_description of image (Example: Villagomez_Nikki_ClevelandSign.jpeg)

These pictures will used as a crucial part of the September 13th presentation.
