Alissa Walker

Join us for an evening chat with design writer Alissa Walker at the Denver Art Museum! Alissa has spent the last year touring the country as part of the GOOD Ideas for Cities initiative where designers create solutions to urban problems proposed by city leaders. She'll highlight some of the 50+ solutions for cities created by designers since 2008, as well as talk about the importance of taking on your own city as a client. She will also discuss her own personal campaign to get people out of their cars by highlighting the beauty and benefits of walking. After leaving the advertising world, she found her inspiration in scoops of gelato, thus the creation of Gelatobaby.

Alissa Walker quickly became a success in the world of writing as she was awarded one of seven, 2010 USC Annenberg/Getty Arts Journalism Fellows for her work in writing on the topics of design and urbanism. In 2011 was awarded a grand by ArtPlace for her work in GOOD Ideas For Cities. This past summer she presented this calumniation of these great urban advances at the 13th International Venice Architecture Biennale.

You can find her writing in GOOD, Fast Company, Dwell, Details, O, Sunset, Print, The Architect’s Newspaper, LA Weekly, Metropolis, Wired, Design Observer, Core77, Coudal, Eye, HOW, and other publications. Visit her website at gelatobaby.com

The event will be held at the Denver Art Museum, Ponti Hall located in the North Building. Hope to see you there!
